Beta performance
Known ChessZCam beta limitations and setup conditions
The beta currently performs best with stable framing, even lighting, clear board-and-piece contrast and a reliable local network.

What beta already aims to help with
- Detecting OTB moves from a phone camera under reasonable lighting
- Driving a browser overlay for tools like OBS and vMix
- Reducing manual digital-board clicking for streams and PGN workflows
- LAN viewing so parents/coaches on the same network can follow a board
What still depends on conditions
- Lighting & framing: poor light, glare, or partial board views reduce accuracy
- Hands & bumps: operators may need undo/sync when pieces are adjusted messily
- Venue Wi‑Fi: captive portals and weak public networks can break phone↔PC links
- Device variance: older phones or unusual board sets may need more care
Outside the current beta scope
- Instant perfection in every hall
- A drop-in replacement for every federation electronic-board installation
- 24/7 corporate support SLAs (support is personal via Contact)
- iOS/Mac as first-class platforms on day one
How testing improves the system
Real venue tests and your moderated feedback steer the roadmap. Specific reports that include the phone model, lighting, network type and a short clip help reproduce and fix problems.
