zonChess : SwissMax · Pair. Rank. Celebrate.

Keep Swiss-Manager. Make the work around it easier.

Swiss-Manager already handles the most important job: trusted pairing, ranking and tournament administration. SwissMax is being built for the work that surrounds it—cleaning registration data, sharing readable pairings, collecting results across the venue and preparing winner announcements.

A companion, not a replacement

Built beside the systems tournament organizers already trust.

Swiss-Manager has earned deep trust because tournament officials can depend on its pairing, ranking and administration workflow. Chess-Results gives players and families a familiar place to follow published information. SwissMax leaves those foundations intact and concentrates on the repetitive operational steps around them.

Where tournament days become heavy

The difficult part is often not the pairing—it is everything happening around it.

SwissMax is designed for the moments when one organizer, several volunteers and many players all need the same information quickly.

Before the event

Registration data arrives in different shapes

Names, IDs, ratings, clubs, categories and form headings may need cleaning before they are ready for the official tournament file.

Between rounds

Pairings must reach people fast

Organizers often repeat screenshots, image edits, printing and WhatsApp messages while players are already waiting for the next round.

During scoring

Several sections move at once

Results may arrive from different boards, volunteers or devices. The challenge is keeping each category and active round clear without creating duplicate work.

At closing

Awards still need careful checking

Overall rankings, age groups, female prizes, trophies and cash awards must be verified before polished winner graphics can be published.

Small tournaments

One person may handle registration, pairings, results, announcements and certificates. SwissMax aims to reduce switching between spreadsheets, screenshots and design tools.

Medium tournaments

Multiple sections and helpers create more hand-offs. Shared LAN scoring, section-aware workspaces and reusable presets can keep the team aligned.

Large tournaments

The official pairing workflow remains central, while communication, result collection and award preparation benefit from clearer roles, logs and repeatable output.

SwissMax is not an argument against Swiss-Manager. It is a response to the practical workload around a system that has served chess organizers for decades. Pairing decisions, rankings and the official tournament record remain with Swiss-Manager and Chess-Results; SwissMax helps the team move information between people and formats with fewer repeated steps.

Practical by design

Built for clubs, schools and tournament teams.

The aim is not more software for its own sake. It is fewer repetitive steps and clearer communication around every round.

Frequently asked

Clear expectations before launch.

Does SwissMax replace Swiss-Manager?

No. Swiss-Manager remains the pairing, ranking and official tournament-administration system. SwissMax is an independent companion for the operational and presentation tasks around it.

Does SwissMax need the internet?

Most data processing and graphics work is local. Internet access is needed when loading a published Chess-Results link or sending content through an external sharing service.

Can several sections run at once?

Yes. The current design keeps section data separate across Pairings, Score panel and Winner list so one category does not overwrite another.

When can I download it?

SwissMax is still in controlled pre-launch testing. Register your interest and zonChess will share launch timing, trial details and supported workflows when they are confirmed.
